In summer 2024, the summer schedule for general developmental disabilities includes the following: an 8 day adult session, three 12 day general sessions (all ages and special needs considered), two 5 day sessions for individuals diagnosed with autism (all ages considered), and an end of summer 6 day session with all ages and special needs considered. All camp sessions have as a foundation therapeutic recreational activities, including arts/crafts, iPad media arts, cooking, nature/gardening, music, drama, sports and swimming. Year-round respite programs also available for children and adults. There is also a limited day camp, and an after school/program respite care program for Monmouth County, NJ residents. Financial Assistance Available

Scholarships are awarded based on family income and family size. Other factors, such as a recent job loss, illness, extraordinary expenses for shelter, medical care or rehabilitation equipment may be taken into consideration.

Nutritious meals are provided and most special diets can be accommodated.

Rising Treetops at Oakhurst, established in 1906, is located on a scenic 15-acre site in Oakhurst, New Jersey in Monmouth County, about one mile from the Atlantic Ocean. Campers live in easily accessible modern cabins, surrounded by tall trees, grass and fresh air, with all the counselors, support and adapted facilities it takes to make their stay at Rising Treetops a fun and memorable experience. Rising Treetops helps campers discover new abilities and new strengths, which helps foster independence and self confidence. Year-round, we serve people with special needs, including autism and physical and intellectual disabilities, and provide respite for their families. Not only do we provide summer sleep-away camp for children and adults, but also out-of-home year-round overnight respite for children and adults, both on a planned and emergency basis. In addition, we provide limited day respite services throughout the year for local Monmouth County children and adults. All day services, including our summer day camp, resumed as of September 2022. Details on 2024 Summer Camp sessions are provided on our website. Transportation is available from New York City, and a sliding scaled fee is available for eligible applicants.
