Program Dates: June 17th-August 10th, 2018

Ascendigo's Summer Adventures Camp consists of eight consecutive-week long sessions. Our teams travel throughout Colorado's beautiful Roaring Fork Valley to take advantage of some of the best outdoor recreation in the state. From the lake at Rifle Gap State Park where we enjoy a wide variety of water activities, to the Roaring Fork River for rafting and whitewater sports, Ascendigo participants experience the best this part of the country has to offer.

Ascendigo programs are designed to continually challenge the attendees as they build their skills and confidence week after week. Ascendigo uses positive behavioral supports and naturalistic intervention to facilitate success for people of all abilities. To maximize success, we highly encourage multiple weeks of attendence.

Core Sports (participant chooses core sport prior to arrival, focuses on that sport during their stay):
Lake Sports, River Sports, Alpine (Rock Climbing), Ranch and Equestrian Sports

8 one-week sessions; attend one or multiple sessions

Five Day Residential Program= $2500 (Sunday-Friday)
Five Day Day Program= $1500 (Sunday- Friday)
Seven Day Residential Program= $3000 (Sunday-Sunday)

Financial support is available and outside funding sources are accepted.

Program cost includes:

One to one supervision by staff specifically trained in autism.

All equipment.

Two professionally instructed outdoor sports per day.

All required safety equipment.

Evening activities program.

Welcome registration dinner.

Five (5) days of breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals specifically designed for our special needs.

Two (2) snacks per day with liquids available as needed.

Six (6) days of housing accommodations.

We are able to accommodate most diets including: gluten free, casein free, dairy free, and vegetarian.

*Ascendigo accepts people of ALL abilities.
*Our counselor-camper ratio is 1:1.
*We accept up to 24 campers per session.
*Each session is one week and families can choose to enroll in multiple sessions.
*Our summer activities take place throughout the Roaring Fork Valley.
*Our winter program is held on Snowmass Mountain in Aspen, CO.

Our staff receives extensive training in autism learning styles and characteristics. We use positive behavior approaches and communication supports such as social stories and visual schedules. Our staff also has expertise/certification in the sports we undertake. We apply the teaching theories that have proven effective with autism to these sports and have developed unique processes and technologies to maximize success.

We believe sports programs can be accessible, enjoyable and achievable for an individual with autism. Sports are an integral component of human life and everyone should be given the opportunity to participate. Through sports, people with autism can more fully engage in everyday life.

We believe every individual with autism has the right to attempt and attain athletics and has the right to be taught in the way they learn and succeed. Using innovative methods that are designed with the person with autism in mind, our participants can be successful at challenging athletic activities.

We believe our approach can foster the long-term incorporation of recreational sports into daily life. The personal gain of each participant can increase the health, happiness and sustained well being for the entire family.
