Camp Ronald McDonald is the only totally accessible camping facility in Northern California. Every summer we collaborate with other non-profit groups to bring a week of traditional camping experiences to all children with a variety of special medical needs, economical hardship and emotional issues. We staff qualified, trained Program Specialists in the fields of Waterfront, Sports, Outdoor Education, Arts & Crafts and Drama. Our specialists take the extra time to create programs that accommodate all our campers regardless of mobility, cognitive or emotional issues. Our program activities help to further Camp Ronald McDonald's mission and allow children with different types of abilities to experience the wonderful program of Summer Camp!

Program Breakdown:

DRAMA
Our drama component encompasses drama unit times, talent shows and campfires. We foster creative expression with no inhibitions or physical barriers, encourage creativity, enhance self-esteem and introduce the concepts of theater, dance and music as art forms.

SPORTS
Each summer we replace athletic equipment as well as update equipment with adaptive apparatus to individualize and accommodate every camper. Through our sports program, all our campers learn the importance of being a team player, advance their motor skills and help foster new ideas of physical activities options.

ARTS & CRAFTS
One of the most traditional camping programs that allow our campers to take home tangible camp memories, express their creativity, promote their individuality and improve fine motor skills. Past summers we have made candles, tie-dyes, nature crafts, jewelry, scrapbooks, masks and sculptures.

OUTDOOR EDUCATION
Our outdoor education program includes the traditional summer camp activities of fishing, mountain biking and archery, as well as hiking and environmental awareness. We introduce understanding of our surroundings and the environmental impact of every day living. Campers learn about conservation, recycling, the history of Eagle Lake and increase their physical activity with walks around the local trails

WATERFRONT
Our natural lakefront and accessible dock enables us to expose all our campers to canoeing and swimming. We contribute to feelings of independence to all children including those in wheelchairs or have muscle contractions, and scoliosis.

Food service is a point of pride for Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake. We provide menu selections full of variety, taste and yes, nutrition. All menus are created to meet the needs and tastes of camping groups. We operate a state of the art kitchen that is overseen by a Registered Dietitian and operated by Undergraduate Dietetic Interns to ensure that everyone's dietary needs are met.

Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake is a fully accessible residential camp for children with special medical needs, economic hardship and emotional issues. Accredited by the American Camping Association, we are located in the high Sierra on the grounds of beautiful Eagle Lake. A project of Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern California, the goal of Camp Ronald McDonald is to provide confidence building experiences to children who are "at-risk", disadvantaged and/or living with physical or emotional disabilities. Our programs are designed to support each camper's individuality through the challenges of outdoor group living and teamwork in a supportive environment. We currently serve about 1,000 participants each summer.
