Camp Setebaid at Swatara serves teens with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) ages 13-18. The program offers age-appropriate activities like a high ropes course, sports, fine arts, digital photography, or science. The Harrisburg Diabetic Youth Camp (HDYC) serves children with T1D ages 7-12. Both camps offer general camp activities like boating, swimming, Gaga ball, Soccer, Basketball, Four Square, Volleyball, singing around the campfire, and hiking.

The dietitians work with each camper to go through the cafeteria-style line and select a balanced meal while helping them to count their carbohydrates. Substitutions are available and special diets are accommodated as needed.

Camp Setebaid at Swatara and the HDYC are one-week adventure camps for children and teens with diabetes ages 7-18. Make memories while you share summer fun and diabetes education with friends at the best week of your summer. Campers can explore nature trails, participate in endless activities, take a dip in the pool, enjoy arts & crafts and challenge friends at the Gaga Court. Meet new friends boating or playing soccer or volleyball. Try making a bullseye at archery, or enjoy a game of mini-golf with your friends. Try the challenge course and help your friends through the ropes course elements.

The medical staff, consisting of pediatric endocrinologists and pediatric physicians, monitors glucose with continuous glucose monitors, which gives parents peace-of-mind while their children are at camp. Because the medical staff coaches the campers, campers learn to manage their diabetes; we say their new skills are "caught, not taught" because the campers don't even realize they're learning diabetes skills.

Setebaid was named by a camper who said, "this camp turns my diabetes around, so you should call it diabetes spelled backwards."
