We offer Family Camp for families of special needs children. We also offer aides or caregivers the option to attend camps with the campers for a fee.

Our camper-to-counselor ratio changes each session to provide maximum support to our campers. Our sessions accommodate all special needs. We offer Family Camps for the entire family to attend with their child.

Financial Assistance Available

Campers may receive funding by contacting their local Lions Club for sponsorship. Public and private service agencies also provide funding to some campers.

We strive to balance each meal with healthy options and fresh produce. Most allergies can be accommodated with prior notice. Campers that need a specialized diet, such as gluten-free food must bring their own speciality items.

Beacon Lodge is located on 583 acres, nestled in the beautiful Appalachia Mountains along the Juniata River. Serene, wooded, unspoiled with a natural beauty, and surrounded by some of the most beautiful wilderness areas in the eastern United States, Beacon Lodge is a very special place. Secluded for those who require peace and quiet but also rugged enough for those who seek adventure.

Organized in 1948 to meet the needs of a camp for sightless residents of Pennsylvania, Beacon Lodge has achieved a far-reaching aspiration…a summer camp for both children and adults with various special needs, a conference center for special groups and organizations, and an educational facility for families, a meeting place for old friends and family, a rental facility for group retreats, and much, much more! The goal of Beacon Lodge and its facilities is to provide a well-rounded program adaptable to all individuals living with special needs.

Beacon Lodge is a summer camp with programs designed for children and adults living with special needs. Our Mission is to provide these individuals the opportunity to enjoy a camping experience encompassing recreational, educational, and personal adjustment. We do this by stimulating interests, fostering an appreciation for recreation and learning, and encouraging them to attempt new challenges.
We provide each camper with the opportunity to build confidence, develop life skills, increase interpersonal relationships, and enhance independence through our innovative, intentional activities and caring staff.

Our sessions typically start on Saturday and vary in length from 6 days to 11 days. The camper-to-counselor ratio changes each week depending on the needs of our campers.
